The economic forecasts of a looming recession are starting to get more and more bleak. Every passing headline seems to indicate we are no longer in stormy conditions, but officially in the dark ages.
The economy is now in a recession,” Harvard economist Martin Feldstein told The Boston Globe over the weekend. “It will last longer and be deeper than the last two recessions, which lasted only 8 months from peak to trough. It could well be longer and deeper than the recession in the early 1980s that lasted 16 months.

“gangsta” rap has finally made its way to Search Engine Marketing Education.
Mo Serious of Pop Labs has made a few videos that you can see on YouTube (click the heading links below to view the rap videos).
The videos of very clever in as far as creating a great link bait tactic for Pop Labs, but I’m not sure if these videos would actually acquire any new clients or cross-sell any existing clients….

Adwords has announced on a blog post earlier today that Google will begin to factor page load times as part of your Adwords’ Quality Score.
The update is set to start impacting Quality Scores later this month…

Yahoo is updating their index.
There should be some minor fluctuations in organic Search Engine Results Pages according to Yahoo.
We’re in the process of rolling out some changes to our crawling, indexing and ranking algorithms. While we expect the update will be completed soon, as you know, throughout this process you may see some ranking changes and page shuffling in the index.

Compete was acquired by TNS (Taylor Nelson Sofres plc) for $75 million today.
Compete offers Search Engine, Competitor Intellegence as an ASP.
This information is used to measure how consumers consider, engage with and buy a client’s products or services online, relative to those of its competition. This ability to analyze online behavior before a purchase is made enables Compete to advise clients on how to target online communications to individual consumers, to influence both their online and offline purchasing behavior.
